Judge a Citywide Debate Tournament for High School Students
Volunteer judges listen to students, providing vital reinforcement for the notion that students have valuable ideas to contribute to society. After the debate, judges offer encouragement, share advice for the next round, and tell the tournament organizers who won.
With a student to judge ratio of only 4:1, this is a great opportunity to get some hands-on experience working directly with some amazing students.
No debate experience is necessary to be an effective judge.
Volunteers are trained at the start of each tournament and students are expected to adapt their arguments to their judges, whether they’ve debated for a decade or never seen a debate in their lives.
All volunteers will need to be trained for the start of each session. If you have not been trained, there will be a training a half hour before the first session.
Without volunteers, debaters would not have this life-changing experience. Please join us!
