Global Youth Service Day

Join us at the Boston Green Academy to celebrate National Volunteer Week and Global Youth Service Day on Sunday, April 23, 2017!
 

Volunteers are invited to join us as we focus on the enviornment this year with projects around composting and gardening, serving the Boston Green Academy and Boston Housing Authority.  Projects will include:
 
  • Decorating counter-top compost scrap buckets for Boston Housing Authority residents; buckets will be assembled with home garden materials and educational materials about composting and recycling
 
  • Helping Boston Green Academy prepare their grounds and gardens for Spring:
    • Cleaning up of BGA grounds
    • Spreading new mulch and stone dust in the garden
    • Repainting picnic tables and benches
    • Assembling new picnic tables and benches
    • Repainting garden signs
    • Creating recycling-themed murals
    • Decorating stepping stones and clay pots
This event is open to volunteers ages 5+ (some projects onsite will be limited to older volunteers).  We welcome groups of up to 15, and require a 3:1 youth to adult ratio.   Pre-registration is required.  Event is rain or shine. 

Boston Green Academy is located in Brighton, within a 10 minute walk of the Green Line.  Limited parking is available at the school, and on the street.
