Landmarks Orchestra Summer Concerts
Boston Landmarks Orchestra builds community through great music.
There are a variety of tasks for volunteers before and after the concert each evening. Volunteers can expect to do some or all of the following: help with virtual programs (QR scanning codes), manage the Info table, assist people with lawn chairs, assist those with limited mobility, take surveys from audience members, collect donations, and help pack up lawn chairs. Often there are other tasks that come up during the evening as well!
Volunteers will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time and ability to lift lawn chairs. Volunteers should also be prepared with sunscreen and/or bug spray if needed since the concert is outdoors. Volunteers should plan on eating before the concert, or bring a picnic dinner. Volunteers will also be given a lanyard for access backstage. Days can be really hot as concerts are outside. We strongly advise all volunteers to make sure to hydrate. Inside the Hatch is air-conditioned so we advise volunteers to take cool-down breaks when needed. Volunteers can store their belongings at the volunteer table, but please do not bring valuables unless they are kept on you at all times (wallets, cell phones). Please meet at the info tent located next to the Hatch. Parking is prohibited except for musicians, but the Hatch Shell is T accessible and there is limited parking available at nearby garages.
MBTA Accessibility: Red Line (Charles Street/MGH Station). Walking distance from the station to the Esplanade: 0.4 miles. Take the Frances Appleton Bridge and walk the path toward the Hatch Memorial Shell. Green Line (Arlington). Walking distance from the station to the Esplanade: 0.5 miles. Take the Arthur Fiedler Bridge and walk towards the Hatch Memorial Shell.
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
