Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD)

MISSION Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) is devoted to its mission of promoting self-help for low-income people and neighborhoods. ABCD empowers disadvantaged people by providing them with the tools to overcome poverty, live with dignity, and achieve their full potential. It emphasizes education, skilled job-training and asset development. DESCRIPTION ABCD in conjunction with National Council on Aging (NCOA) has established the GRANDS (Grandparents Raising Grandchildren) Project. The project is funded by the NCOA. The GRANDS Program will recruit a team of 8-12 leaders 55+ who will work to help improve quality of life for youth. IMPACT ABCD's GRANDS Program works with grandparents to offer support services through educational programs, financial counseling and other services that will help individuals overcome some of the challenges that they may encounter and in turn they are able to effectively help their grandchildren.
