Bird Street Community Center

MISSION To serve, through a unique partership with residents, the needs of a vibrant community by providing affordable childcare and recreational, educational, and developmental activities for youth and their families. DESCRIPTION Bird Street Community Center (BSCC) has been a cornerstone of youth programming for the Uphams Corner and Dudley Street areas of Dorchester since 1978. With a focus on the Uphams-Dudley neighborhoods, BSCC strives to serve families and children through individual and intergenerational programs and services in a setting that welcomes everyone. Staff develop relationships with youth and provide encouragement and mentoring to further youth in our more structured programs, uncluding academic support, youth leadership, workforce development and recreation. IMPACT The Educational Support Program provides academic support and encouragement to middle school and high school students. We offer tutoring, homework assistance, mentoring, computer access, opportunities for community service, and visits to college. Volunteers contribute time and skills to Bird Street Community Center making this a more productive, energetic, diverse and fun place. Without your help, Bird Street would not be able to offer so much to the youth in the community, especially significant role models for the children and teenagers at BSCC.
