HEARTH - Home for Good

MISSION HEARTH - Home for Good is a non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of homelessness among the elderly. DESCRIPTION HEARTH - Home for Good was founded in 1991 and offers a unique blend of prevention, placement, and housing programs all designed to help elders find and succeed in homes of their own. To this end, all housing operated by HEARTH provides a creative array of supportive services that assist residents to age with dignity, regardless of their special medical, mental health, or social needs. Hearth believes these goals are best accomplished through respect for elders and staff, with the desire to see both achieve their highest degree of potential. Now entering its eleventh year, HEARTH counts itself as a strong leader among a maturing, collaborative network of individuals, agencies and initiatives. They are focused on the continuing need not only to create more homes for elders in need, but also to provide the critical support for these elders in their journey out of homelessness. IMPACT Since 1991, HEARTH has created 115 units of permanent supportive housing in five residences located in the greater Boston area. In addition, our Outreach team of housing advocates/case managers has identified and assessed over 1,200 homeless elders or elders at-risk of becoming homeless and placed 500 individuals into permanent housing in Greater Boston with stabilization follow-up services for one year.
